Getting Started

Our installation process is easy, and our craftsmanship is precise. First, call Sturgis and speak to a professional in our Cut Stone Division so that you can schedule a time to come by and pick out a stone. Then we can give you an estimate from either bringing drawings or measurements to our showroom or we can meet you at the location where the installation will take place. Either way, we’ll schedule a time to measure your project so that a template can be made for cutting the stone. Once the final plans are approved, our Stone Fabrication Shop will skillfully cut the design out of the stone slab and apply the edge treatment for a perfect fit. When your new counters are ready for installation, our team will call to schedule a convenient time. The average time it takes from ordering your natural stone counters to the time of installation can be 3 to 6 weeks depending on level of difficulty of design/cutting.

Options: Since stone counters are custom designed and cut, you have many options. We stock slabs in a variety of thickness. Some like a thicker counter top. The edges can be simply squared off, rounded, bull-nosed, or any of a variety of edge treatments. See the chart to the right for a selection of custom edge designs. You may choose to seal your new stone counter. Sealing does not change the appearance, but protects from stains and slows down the aging process. This is contrary to what some homeowners love about natural stone. They prefer the rustic, “old-world” look that an aged piece of stone delivers. Note: any stone counter may be resurfaced at any time and will look as new as the day it was installed.
